PowerGo - This is where our solar energy comes from

Energy of the future

PowerGo is the subsidiary of PowerField. We focus on making optimal use of solar energy. PowerField develops, builds and manages solar parks and energy storage systems. And through PowerGo, we make use of this energy. That helps us all move forward.

PowerGo - Powered by the sun

Powered by the sun

Charging in combination with 100% solar energy, how do we do that? We make use of Guarantees of Origin (GoO). The European Union utilises the Guarantee of Origin system, which facilitates trade in renewable energy. Guarantees of Origin are official certificates confirming that electricity is generated from green sources, such as the sun. One GoO is the equivalent of 1,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable energy. We can prove the origin of every kilowatt-hour. Guaranteed and certified.

1. Solar energy

PowerField generates electricity through solar parks, and stores it in batteries when necessary.

2. Guarantees of Origin

With every megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable electricity that PowerField supplies to the power grid, PowerField generates a GoO certificate.

3. Providing energy and GoOs

PowerField supplies solar energy and the related GoO to PowerGo.

4. Verification and cancellation

When PowerGo uses a GoO to prove that the solar energy was consumed, the certificate is cancelled. This prevents the same certificate from being used more than once.

5. Reporting and transparency

The information about Guarantees of Origin that is used and cancelled is recorded and checked by certified independent agencies, to ensure transparency about the amount of green electricity used and where it comes from.

PowerGo - Charging smarter and greener

Charging smarter and greener

Generating, storing, supplying, and utilizing solar energy—all as efficiently as possible. PowerGo’s dynamic charging prices fit perfectly to this. These are charging prices that follow the current electricity price. EV drivers can save on costs by charging at optimal times, we stimulate charging with green energy and we ensure efficient use of the electricity grid.

Frequently asked questions

How does PowerGo utilise solar energy?

PowerGo uses the solar energy generated by our parent company PowerField through Guarantees of Origin (GoO). One GoO is the equivalent of 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy. We can prove where every kWh of energy comes from.

Doesn’t PowerGo use more electricity than PowerField generates?

Not even close! PowerField and PowerGo go hand-in-hand. Each solar park adds enough capacity to charge millions of electric kilometers. Our solar park in Wanneperveen (the Netherlands) alone generates enough power for 4,200,000 electric kilometers (at 0.15 km per kWh). The capacity of our solar parks greatly surpasses the demand for our charging stations. And it will stay that way.

How does PowerGo use solar energy when the sun isn’t shining?

Within the European Union, we use a Guarantee of Origin (GoO) system, which enables the trade of green energy. GoOs are official certificates that confirm electricity is derived from renewable sources, such as solar energy. PowerGo utilises solar energy by obtaining GoOs from its parent company, PowerField. This allows us to deploy solar energy whenever it is needed. So, even when the sun is not shining, we can use solar energy.
