AC charging stations (alternating current) typically have a maximum charging speed of up to 22 kW. With AC charging, the alternating current is converted to direct current by an internal converter in the car. While this converter is usually less powerful, charging is slower compared to DC chargers (direct current), where the conversion of current happens within the charging station itself. AC chargers are ideal for locations where an electric car is parked for several hours, like at home or at offices.

DC charging stations charge faster, with power outputs ranging from 30 to 75 kW. These chargers are often located at places where quicker charging times – usually under an hour – are needed, such as at sports clubs.

HPC charging stations (High Power Charging) are ultra-fast DC chargers with a power output ranging from 90 to 200 kW. These chargers are commonly found at locations where rapid charging is desirable, such as supermarkets.

UHPC charging stations (Ultra High Power Charging) are ultra-fast chargers with a power output of 240 to 400+ kW. UHPC chargers can fully charge vehicles within a short amount of time. You’ll often find UHPC chargers along highways, where short charging stops during long journeys are convenient.

No, PowerGo does not charge an idle fee. An idle fee is applied by some charge point operators when a vehicle remains connected to a charging station after the charging session has ended. PowerGo does not apply an idle fee, so you won’t be charged extra for this.

You can pay with a debit card or credit card at a growing number of locations. And we are working hard to make these payment options available at all of our locations.  

Make sure the cable from the charging station is properly connected to the vehicle and that the vehicles’ settings are not set to ‘delayed’ or ‘scheduled charging.’ If the vehicle still does not charge, unlock your vehicle, disconnect the cable and try again. If the vehicle still won’t start charging, please contact us.

It is easy to charge and pay using the PowerGo Charge app: simply find a charging station in the app, connect the charging cable, start the process and stop charging when you’re done. Read more here: PowerGo Charge app.

Within the European Union, we use a Guarantee of Origin (GoO) system, which enables the trade of green energy. GoOs are official certificates that confirm electricity is derived from renewable sources, such as solar energy. PowerGo utilises solar energy by obtaining GoOs from its parent company, PowerField. This allows us to deploy solar energy whenever it is needed. So, even when the sun is not shining, we can use solar energy.

PowerGo uses the solar energy generated by our parent company PowerField through Guarantees of Origin (GoO). One GoO is the equivalent of 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable energy. We can prove where every kWh of energy comes from.

Not even close! PowerField and PowerGo go hand-in-hand. Each solar park adds enough capacity to charge millions of electric kilometers. Our solar park in Wanneperveen (the Netherlands) alone generates enough power for 4,200,000 electric kilometers (at 0.15 km per kWh). The capacity of our solar parks greatly surpasses the demand for our charging stations. And it will stay that way.

PowerGo charging stations accept most charging cards. We are constantly expanding our network of partners, so we expect your charging card to work at our charging stations as well. You can always charge and pay using the PowerGo Charge app.

Yes, any vehicle with a type-2 connection can use our AC charging stations. For DC charging, all our charging stations are equipped with a CCS connector – the European standard for fast charging. Some of our fast charging locations are also equipped with a CHAdeMO connection. The types of connections for each charging station are listed in the PowerGo Charge app.

We offer dynamic prices at almost all locations, which means they follow the market price. You can find the prices for each charging station in our app and on our website. Currently, PowerGo does not offer a subscription or charging card. You can easily pay at our charging points using your own charging card, debit card, or the PowerGo Charge app. Read more: How does it work?

Charging and payment at PowerGo can be done in several ways. For example, with a charging card, bank card or our own PowerGo Charge app. To charge and pay using our charging stations, first choose a payment method, connect the charging cable to the vehicle and stop the charging session when done.
