Business Traveller | Radisson to provide electric vehicle charging points at 300 hotels across Europe

Radisson Hotel Group has partnered with Charge Point Operator firm PowerGo to roll out charging points for electric vehicles at 300 hotels across Europe.

The partnership aims to encourage guests to choose sustainable transport options, and help the group on its road to achieving net zero by 2050.

PowerGo has already installed eight charging stations at Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Oslo which will be ready for use from mid-July. Both guests and visitors will be able to pay for the charging via the PowerGo Charge app.

This initiative is running alongside the group’s existing partnership with pan-European provider of electric vehicle charging solutions Allego, which launched in 2021.

Radisson says that it is responding to the rise in demand for electric vehicles, which is expected to grow fourfold by 2025. Indeed, the European Commission has mandated that all new registered cars and vans in Europe will need to be zero-emission by 2035.

Inge Huijbrechts, global SVP Sustainability, Security and Corporate Communications at Radisson Hotel Group, commented:

“Over 70 per cent of clients indicate they want to choose sustainable travel options. E-mobility is becoming an essential part of the guest experience. At Radisson Hotel Group, we recognize this trend and want to be at the forefront of promoting a green mobility mindset by making responsible stays easier.

“The cooperation with PowerGo will help us go beyond the 700+ EV chargers currently installed in our hotels and reach our aim to equip all eligible hotels in Europe and beyond with EV charging facilities by 2025.”
